About
Jess
Simpson

I started my journey serving others as a baseball coach back in 1991.  I learned quickly that I enjoyed coaching and teaching people.  My days as a baseball player gave me strong insight into what it takes to compete and have success.  Trust me, with baseball, sometimes you must really look hard to find what you are successful at in certain moments.  I have coached baseball on and off for 32 years.  Those experiences along with my work have galvanized my approach to serving others.

My journey dedicating my life to serving others began in child welfare, specifically working in and serving adolescents who were struggling emotionally and behaviorally.  My experience there changed my life and directly impacted how I would parent my children, later on.  My wife worked for the same agency as well.  It was during this time that we both made the commitment to service, and helping others, as a lifetime venture.

From there, I worked altogether 16 years in higher education, doing much of the same but in just a different way.  Advocacy, acute counseling, and mentorship were parts of my job at the university level that I enjoyed tremendously.  It was during COVID that after much prayer and nudging from my wife to join her, that I made the leap into private practice in Fall of 2021.

During my time in child welfare, I was blessed to be a part of and exposed to the clinical components of care along with having the chance to see many diagnoses at work and how this diagnosis impacted people.  I was not only charged with assisting clients in need, but also had the chance to see how clinicians and psychiatrists approach the challenges that many patients faced.  Those experiences transcended into the post-secondary environment in which I worked and allowed me to embrace and understand what was truly important for others, and what constituted an emergency and what didn’t.  Perspective was and is one of the most valuable components I was gifted and able to foster for so many years.

My experiences have allowed me to work with many people with many different diagnoses.  I have great experience serving those who manage depression, anxiety, anger, oppositional behavior, ADHD, Autism, trauma, abandonment, and many others, just to name a few.
